Let us pray.
Almighty God, source of wisdom and truth, giver of all good gifts,
We humbly ask you to guide and bless the men and women of this Legislature,
That they may lead our beloved state as servants;
Servants who care for the least of these,
Servants who honor and respect all people made in your image;
Servants who are peace-makers, truth-lovers, promise-keepers, bridge-builders, and example-setters;
Servants who are tough, yet tender; powerful, yet meek; smart, yet teachable.
Grant these servants a spirit of wisdom, discernment, and unity,
For the good of all people and the glory of your name.
Forgive us, Father, when we fail you;
Forgive us when we fail our fellow man,
And lead us in a still more excellent way.
In the power of your Spirit,
Through Jesus Christ, the risen Lord,
Amen.
